Iran (MNN) — Iran remains at the center of a dangerous global crisis. See our full coverage here. In week four of the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the U.S., fighting escalates across the Middle East, with heavy hits on energy infrastructure.

The battle is expanding beyond what U.S. President Donald Trump initially described as a “short war,” and its complexity is increasing with each passing week.

“[The] Iranian regime has a different tactic,” Heart4Iran’s Edwin Abnous says, describing Iranian leaders’ long-term goals and strategy. Commanders typically think in years or decades, not just in terms of immediate wins.

“They would say that maybe Americans [have] the watch, but we control the time. That is how it is with Iranians.”

Iran’s strategy

Iran is engaging proxies in the region, such as Hezbollah, and trying to create an energy war by restricting access to the Strait of Hormuz.

“The disorder that they’re trying to create might be part of the plan,” Abnous says.

“They don’t have the weaponry and the strength to withstand the American and Israeli attacks at all. They want to create enough chaos and confusion in the region to bring everybody into this mess,” he says of Iranian attacks on Gulf territory.

By making Western allies feel the economic pain of prolonged conflict, Abnous says, “Maybe everybody else in the region [will] stand up and say, ‘We have had enough of this.’”

Ministry impact

The conflict is hurting ministries, too; Heart4Iran lost signal for three days. Normally, it broadcasts Christian satellite programming into Iran 24/7 through Mohabat TV. More about that here.

Initially, “We reached out to the satellite company, asking, ‘Why is this happening?’ We thought the Iranian government was jamming it,” Abnous says.

Then, “We found out that it’s not only us,” he continues. “There are other Christian Farsi satellite [programs] and Farsi news channels that are intentionally blocked.”

Thankfully, the Lord quickly provided a solution. Heart4Iran immediately began “trying to figure out if there is another [affordable] satellite provider that is willing to take our feed into Iran, because a sudden change like this does not guarantee a good deal, especially if you are in need and you’re desperate to get back into the country,” Abnous says.

“It was [a] very challenging and costly negotiation, but we had to get back [in].”

Praise God for providing a solution. Pray that Iranians will encounter Jesus through Heart4Iran programs.

“We’re back broadcasting our content, preaching the Gospel, and making sure the trauma care programming is beaming into [Iran],” Abnous says.
